Pranayama series: Brahmari- Bee breath

Great breathing practice to relieve mental tension and soothe the mind.

To give brahmari breath a go in an actual yoga class can be a little challenging for those of us who are a little self conscious or shy about making a noise. Don’t let this stop you to reap the amazing benefits of experiencing the vibration during your the Bee breath practice.

Today I’ll share with you the ins and outs of Brahmari breath so you can practice in the comfort of your own 4 walls.

Let me tell you though that really if everyone sets them selves up and shuts off the hearing sense off properly they should be entirely focused on them selves and only really hear their own humming if we practice this pranayama in class.

As you practice let the sound vibration in your head and body lull you. The humming can be very hypnotic and deeply calming to the nervous system combating stress and negative feeling almost instantly.

Benefits:

  • helps focus on the inner sound and rhythm of the breath
  • increased sense of wellbeing
  • can relieve anxiety and stress
  • helps calm feelings of anger
  • may alleviate insomnia
  • may help lower blood pressure
  • assists the body with healing
  • can eliminate throat problems
  • can strengthen  and improve the voice
  • grounds in the present moment

My challenge for you until I see you next week is to practice your Humingbee breath each day and see how it can help you get through the upcoming stressful run up to Christmas.

I hope you find this pranayama exercise helpful, why don’t you drop me a line in a few days with an update on how it’s going for you?
Or ask further questions if they come up.
I always love hearing from you.
