Yin Yoga Workshop

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with poses/ asanas, that are held for longer periods of time around 3-5 minutes per pose is typical.

Staying in a pose for that duration trains the mind and body to become calm and endure distractions, both physical and mental.
Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and over the long term re-modelling the connective tissue to help build strong and flexible joints.
It is a more meditative approach to yoga that is a natural healing practice, yin aims to cultivate awareness of inner silence, physical ease and mental calm.

Yin yoga is not intended as a complete practice in itself, but rather as a complement to more active forms of yoga and other forms of exercise.

For those who have practiced yoga, the poses used in yin are very different, they are all poses that you can hold comfortably for the designated time.

“The power of yin yoga is not effort but time!”

What the participants said following the previous workshops:

“Thank you again for today’s yin yoga session. The yoga practice was amazing. And I’ve taken a lot away from that. But also, today is a tough day for our family. Our weekly body and mind practice and today’s session in particular really helped. It has allowed us to accept the circumstances and remember in a more positive manner than we have been able to previously. I didn’t have an outward emotional experience today at the session but I did have a more introverted one later in the day. I knew what it was, I accepted it, and I was able to embrace the emotion better than I have previously. The mindfulness that our yoga practice has helped me develop has been invaluable. It was really touching to experience your own emotional moment with you earlier too. Peas n Fluff xxx”

“This morning’s yin session was brilliant Marie. Thank you so much. Wiped out now, but so worth it. I would definitely be up for more of these. Thank you for helping me open my mind to new possibilities.”

“Loved it, as always. Can’t wait for the next workshop adventure, because I’m sure this won’t be the last xx”

“It was a fab workshop. Marie thank you so much for your beautiful classes x”

“Thank you so much really enjoyed today’s class x”

“Sooo pleased I found your classes Marie, it really has helped me both physically and mentally. This morning was fab thanks again.  Your outlook on practice really is an inspiration and I will be forever grateful.  Just wanted to say xx”

“I loved this session, it was my first yin experience & for once my whirling, twirling mind tuned out & focused in the moment seemingly being quiet to let my body benefit. It was calming & nurturing with no pressure or expectation just each person bringing & taking what they needed x”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Yin yoga workshop. Being new to Castleford yoga I didn’t know what to expect. The experience was entirely good. It was very different to any yoga class I have tried previously and challenged me both mentally and physically – in a good way! Marie creates and calm and friendly environment which provides the best possible platform to experience Yin Yoga. My only negative is that two hours soon passes and the workshops aren’t more frequent – I’m a convert!”

“I absolutely loved it! I will definitely be doing some more Yin Yoga (😊). You are one of the few Yoga teachers I have met who have an in depth knowledge of Yoga, its different forms and the body consequently anyone, no matter their level of ability , can gain so much from their practice with you. I came away feeling emotionally cleansed and ‘lighter’ if that makes any sense. It was wonderful and I am going to try and at least do a couple of poses every week – especially those that focus on my hip joints to strengthen the tendons to help my arthritis.”
